Where does the time go? Has it been 4 months since the last update I posted on the site? As a matter of fact it is; and a lot of stuff has happened since then. Let's go ahead and start chipping away at the boulder and get you guys all up to speed.
Back in November of last year I talked about the ISP issues we (me and Clover) were having with our internet connection being stable. Things seem to have calm down a bit and the sporadic downtime for the most part is gone. Let's hope it stays that way for everyone involved.
This whole Twitch / YouTube / website project began as a whimsical side hobby for us back in 2015. Little did we know what we were getting ourselves into; specifically myself on the technical side of things. For better or worse - it's a different form of work without any real direct compensation other than the enjoyment of the few who care about us. To this end Squarespace has been a fantastic web-host to work with and I can't recommend them enough for anyone willing to be stupid enough to dabble in making content. In other words; the few souls who have been watching our stuff and saying "Hi" whenever you can has been the little fuel we need to keep going and we both thank you from the bottom of our hearts to keep going forward in 2018.
On the Youtube side of the coin, there hasn't been a lot of stuff to post on there cause I'm a finicky old man who has specific taste in video games. I know a lot of my subscriber base came from the "Planet Master" android game which has seemingly been put on hold for the developer's new project "Stella Maiden". I'll be making content on that game the moment it is released, so feel free to check it out when it goes live. There are other games I will be making a play-through as well, but those will be down the road since a lot of them don't come out until much later and / or the end of the year. Notably Yakuza 6 / Kiwami 2 / Darksiders III / Bio-Mutant and potentially Destiny Child.
Frankly speaking; the US android market is full of crap mostly pushed out as a side effect of bigger movie franchises or some type of spin-off of another well establish pop culture series.
Because of this I have been dabbling with other Android games that have been causing a stir outside of the US Android market. Two games that caught my attention were Azure Lane and Destiny Child. I highly recommend you try them out (if you can) because they're both pretty addicting and been sucking away a ton of hours in my free time. Even as I write this article I'm looking over my tablet making sure I don't miss a minute of down time in the current event that is going on. Speaking of which - these games are not in English; and you're going to have to channel every ounce of weeabo to navigate through the menus and find out what's going on. I highly suggest you do so; especially if you're a fan of the T H I C C like myself.
For the fans of Clover over at twitch you may have noticed her streaming schedule is even more sporadic than usual. This is because she recently got a promotion at her job; and that now causes her to put in more hours while holding onto more responsibility that eats away some of the free time she had before. Not to say she isn't as lazy as she use to be (cause she was) but it just means you're going to see a little less side boob until things settle down a bit. Clover has intention of streaming different games in the upcoming months due to Guild Wars 2 fatigue; a game that really put her on the map so to speak with her fan-base but the passion is waning fast. If you have a game that has pretty girls running around in g-strings; she might be interested. Otherwise just save that suggestion as it's going to be falling on deaf ears. Trust me on this one!
The past 4 months haven't been all work and no play for myself. I actually finished a few PS4 games that were filled with highs and lows in terms of engagement. I do believe in the old saying "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all" so the fact that I'm even mentioning these games should be a good thing. The last thing I need (nor care about) is someone getting excited or butt hurt about any of my opinions.
Let's start with the "It came out of nowhere and is awesome" Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana and Tokyo Xanadu Ex+. Holy crap these caught me off guard as being fantastic. Something about PS Vita ports being funner than 90% of the Steam new releases shows the crappy state of the AAA industry (and to some extent Indie) as a whole right now. That being said that doesn't mean that newer games aren't fantastic either; which lead me to the additive (but technically flawed) Monster Hunter World. Although I dabbled with it on the PS4 (I have a slim); I'm going to wait for the PC release down the road to fix the performance issues and play the game in the way it was meant to be played - in glorious PC master race 60fps.
Onto the games I'm looking forward to for the remainder of 2018. The one I really want to sink my entire body in is Cyberpunk 2077 from the famous (infamous as of late?) CD Projekt Red. I absolutely love sci-fi / modern setting games and not only is this from the creator of the massively well done Witcher series; but it's set in an atmosphere that's a welcome break from high fantasy.
If my ever love of video game waifus continues to grow, I was thrown off guard that the upcoming Darksiders III has a female protagonist in the form of Fury: one of the four horsemen (or women) of the apocalypse. Darksiders has always been a guilty pleasure often overlooked by other similar games in the genre as the "2nd rate" alternative. I'm hoping part 3 brings the series into a more favorable light; and it does so with a whip and high heels.
Speaking of whips and high heels; Ivy from the upcoming Soul Calibur 6 game was revealed and has kept her original artistic integrity from previous iterations of the series. Although I'm not a fighting game player, I am a fan of the various tournaments that are run and EVO is one of my favorite spectator events every year. With the recent success of Tekken 7, let's hope that Soul Calibur 6 lives up revitalizing an almost dead series from the brink.
To round out the games I'm excited about that don't get you fired from work; Biomutant has been on my radar the very moment it was released. Although the similarities of the main protagonist look awfully similar to Rocket Racoon; I'm betting Biomutant's hero is much more of a badass and hopefully has a better voice actor!
And that is what we call one hell of an update. I'm sorry I haven't been as active as I use to be in updating the blog, but I'll try to make a more honest attempt at least putting in something on a monthly basis rather than throwing out a gigantic one like this every 1/3 of a year. If you have anything I think I should take a look at, please don't hesistate to let me know by sending me a direct message on Youtube / Twitch (TreeInABox) or the old fashioned way via e-mail.
Have a good one and see you next time in 2019. (Just kidding)
